Merry Christmas to you - and three others

We at TimeLog would like to thank you for this past year’s successful working relationship.

This year we have yet again chosen to cut the printing and postage on our Christmas cards, and instead spend the money on UNICEF Inspired Gifts. We have bought three child PC’s to help children in the third world get an education.

In this way you are indirectly contributing to the world moving one step in the right direction. This is in line with TimeLog’s decision to take responsibility for the surrounding societies – and in line with the spirit of giving at Christmas.

I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year,

Three robust laptops for children in the 3rd world

The child PC represents such a radical innovation that even 1st world children are amazed.

For one thing it has a mesh-network enabling wireless connection between the PC’s, so that the teaching can be managed centrally by the teacher.

The screen can be used outdoors in the tropical sunlight. The battery is rechargeable by hand, solar energy or by using a regular adapter.

In collaboration with other organisations UNICEF will make sure that the PC’s are sent to children in established and supported education projects.

UNICEF is the world’s largest humanitarian children’s organization and work on long-term developmental projects and relief aid in 156 countries.

UNICEF is not funded by the United Nations. Their work is solely paid by voluntary contributions from governments and private donations.

UNICEF’s work is based on the principle of help to self-help. When they sign on for a project the government of the particular country commits to fund the project. The practical work is performed as much as possible by the local population which is also trained to continue the project when UNICEF is no longer involved. This means that one Euro donated to UNICEF’s work in reality means between two and three EUROs in aid.
