Gain new insight into your business

TimeLog Project provides management a range of new tools to analyse the company performance.

New tools for management

Honestly, how many corporate managers know exactly:

  • How many hours each employee uses on internal and external projects?
  • How many hours the individual consultant invoiced last year or last month?
  • How good the project managers really are at staying within their budgets?
  • How many percent of the company’s activities are allocated to development, sales and external activities?
  • What is the work load on each department or individual employee?
  • Which projects exist in the company’s project portfolio?

With TimeLog Project the project economy becomes measurable and transparent with cost prices, expected and realised turnover. This allows management to make well-founded decisions as well as the possibility of surveying everything from an individual process to an overall picture of the business.

Five types of management reports

The management reports in TimeLog Project are arranged into five different sections depending on the level of needed reports. All reports can be exported to various formats; e.g. Microsoft® Excel .

1. Business reports

TimeLog Projects’ business reports take their point of departure in one specific problem. E.g. the report “Internal/external analysis” elucidates each employee’s time consumption on internal and external project, and gives management the relevant data for this specific issue.

2. Status reports

Status reports give management insight into the company production. E.g. on which projects or for which customers work has been performed for a given period of time. TimeLog Project’s status reports show status based on the dimensions supported by the system, e.g. what the cost price and the potential and realised value of the work.

3. Process reports

Process reports shed light on a given work process. TimeLog Project has processes for approval of weekly time sheets, expenses and travel etc. The process reports show what the employee status is in comparison to the process.

4. Project portfolio reports

TimeLog project offers management a report gathering data from multiple projects thereby showing status on several projects in one inclusive report.

An example of this is the project portfolio report. It constructs an overview of all company project activity in one report.

5. Analysis reports

These types of reports are not based on specific business needs, but give the widest possible access to filtering and grouping data.

The pivot report is a good example. Here you can filter project registrations based on all dimensions, choose a grouping and finally choose whether data should be presented graphically or in a table.

New insights – new possibilities

When the company has gathered data in TimeLog Project during a few months, new possibilities emerge in the use of management reports. An overall picture is drawn giving management the possibility of reading status and managing the future direction of the company.

Which reports that are the most relevant for your company will depend on the industry in which you operate and the internal organisation. Because TimeLog Project offers a wide range of targeted reports most needs will be able to be met.

A hosting agreement with TimeLog implies that each employee only has to register one hour to cover the monthly cost of using TimeLog Project. I think that is a really good return on investment.
