The redesign of the Project Administration brings with it a number of advantages, which when added up results in a better user experience as the design now matches the rest of the system and typing fields and information are structured in a more logical order.
Managing Large Projects
TimeLog project 4.4 includes a number of new features that makes it easier to manage larger projects. The objective is to support more project models and match typical project management models in larger organisations.
Each task is automatically given a WBS code that is calculated on an ongoing basis. A WBS code can e.g. be 6.3, which means that it is the third sub task to the sixth main task.
All tasks on a project can either automatically or manually be given a task number.
It is now possible to select how tasks are to be sorted in project plans. According to the standard settings the sorting is "start date, end date, task name". You can now change it to "start date, task name" or just "task name".
New Gantt Charts
The new Gantt charts are shown in a browser and do not require a specific plug-in as was the case previously.
Gantt charts can now be shown as a picture in JPEG format, which makes it very simple to copy and paste Gantt charts in e.g. Microsoft® Word.
Finally, the new Gantt chart means more settings e.g. in relation to the new WBS, and a better design.
